Nice! Its about time. I used to subscribe to and watch the cam for the Bob and Tom show before I discovered PnYR, and I currently watch the cams for Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck (yeah yeah icky right winger). Strangely, the whole radio experience is so much enhanced by being able to watch it happen, even though nothing really happens. Although a morning comedy show will have a lot more to watch than a noontime talk show. For example, OMG eating cinamon. So I say... ROCK ON!!

They used to have a web cam, I think even before the "guitar playing guy", as paul calls him, and they never really maintained it. How hard is it to run a web cam?

This is a good idea, I would definitely particpate (im do photoshop and web design) but my question is this:

The majority of listeners are on their way to work or already at work... will this be as successful as anticipated? I mean, sure it would be awesome seeing OMG getting bit by a snake or eating cinnamon or even drinking a gallon of milk LIVE but how many people will be able to watch the PnYR TV? People could watch bits and peices of it at work, yea, and those who own their own business are set. Some of my favorite parts of the show happen when i'm on my way to work so it would be impossible for me. On the other hand, the PnYR TV could be a success because when Visual along with Audio is a great pair... It's the facial expressions and body language that bring out true atmosphere, to see Paul's face when he's getting frustrated at an idiotic listener, to see OMG being tortured, how great would that be?

Sorry if i'm making no sense I tend to ramble sometimes :)

they might be able to put it in the "video on demand" section so people could watch it at their leisure. that way everyone can see what goes on in there.

Well - thats basically what they do now (ie: cinnamon w/omg, pizza contest, etc...), but Im guessing Doug, that u mean everyday they would have the entire show available through video on demand. Thats actually a good idea, but something tells me they probably will only put the funny stuff "on demand."

Screw on demand. They can have an audio stream and a video stream. I personally would watch every day. I have two monitors at work and I only use the second one for things like web browsing, watching other talk show video streams, haveahectic.com chat in the morning, etc. So I would watch. If you don't think the video would work for you then you use the audio stream. But the advantage of a video stream would be, say, if you're at work and you have a window open with the video stream going but you keep it minimized and just listen like normal and then if you hear something is going on that you have to see you just witch to it and watch, then switch back when its done or when you need to. But there's no reason to NOT have a video stream.

Im not saying it should be on demand only. they definitely need a live stream. i was addressing elizabeths concern that she would be able to watch it live.

also, imagine how great it would be if you could hit the fastforward button every time paul starts to sing. huh, jamie? :>D

I don't need a video feed with a FFWD option for that. I've seriously considered using the Tivo-style recording program I have on my computer and putting the show on my own half hour delay for exactly that reason. In fact I may just do that for American Idiots so i don't have to hear Paul sing at all!

The Paul and Young Ron live studio feed is available. You just have to download the AvaView program that there is a link to.

Yeah - I tried the video during the AI songs, and it didn't work well for me...huge pauses. I'm not familiar with that service, so I can't comment on where the bottleneck might be (although I know where it wasn't).
