What happened today? No show again? They really need to do something. I may stop listening.

Paul mentioned (albeit briefly) that this week would have a few "Best of's". I can't recall if he said exactly, but for some reason I think he said through Wednesday. I wish they'd let OMG and/or Toast do the show, or at least live intros and updates and replay bits in segment's like Jenners used to do.

I believe they are off for vacation.....again. But the reason for returning Thurs is because of the Frank Caliendo show this week in the Hard Rock. Since they are presenting him, they mentioned they would cut the vacation short and be back Thurs to have Frank on air.

Vacation shmacation! This will be the third week in a row that P & R haven't put in a full week. Hello, Mr. Stern, I'd like to buy one of your radios.

Normally I would agree with u guys, but I think some of u are being a little unfair.  They have been live everyday since they came back in January.  They took one day off to go to DJ school, they took two days of the week after, then they had a full week, and now they are taking only three days off.  Thats 5 days (one week) in three months, that is not that bad.  Give them a break literally!!

Now I can only slightly agree with you David. Since the New Year I've had one day off from work, when I went down to Bike Week, and that was a stretch. I wanted three but could only get one. And I know people who get none. So to say that Paul and Ron only taking 5 days in three months is pretty good, especially when they're business is based on them being in the studio, I don't buy it. In fact, of all the talk shows I listen/have listened to, including morning, mid-morning, noontime, afternoon drive and evening shows, even late night shows like Coast to Coast, I have never heard another show play more than one day of reruns in a row, if they play them at all. All the syndicated talk show hosts get sit-ins. Even the local afternoon guy here in Columbia gets a sit-in when he's away. I've heard George Noory's sit-in one night, though it was a long time ago and I can't remember his name. So there is no excuse for a best of show. I would prefer them to have Toast sit around and play music, or even call in Seabass or Jenn Wild, or whoever. Even OMG would make a better interim DJ than hearing stuff I've heard before, no matter how much I might have enjoyed it. The last thing I want to do is replay my work day, which is basically what happens when I hear a best of show. So I actually don't agree with you in the end. A best of show is inexcusable, especially since they're now on TWO stations.

I agree that the best of's are getting pretty lame.  Yesterday I switched to XM Radio for the sports update and today I am sneeking over to 93 Rock.  I think I have heard all of the reruns and they are a little funny again but I would rather hear something else...Sorry, Sad but TRUE!!!

I agree with both of you on the fact that I can not and will not listen to best ofs, seeing as ive heard everything (unless they play something really old, which hasnt happened in a while. I have always said that it would be better to have OMG or Toast come on like Jenners used to, introduce the best ofs, take requests and do the news. And what u said about having Seabass come in and play some music would be even better. But I was talking to my boss today down here in south florida, and she gets to work everyday at 7:30 and loves the show, and she likes hearing the best ofs b/c she misses most of the show everyday! But the reality is that they work for Clear Channel, and we all know they're dirt cheap and getting even cheaper, so I doubt they would pay someone to DJ to fill in, but I would like to see it. But my main point is that compared to past PNYR vacations that have gone on forever, lately it hasent been AS bad!

You're right David. They haven't been as bad. But that usually a point of view one should adopt when thinking about how much your new puppy has been pissing on the carpet. If he hasn't been as bad, you get happy. Its not a philosophy that should be applied to someone (or a pair) running a business that serves, and this is their own estimate, over 500,000 people daily. Imagine if all of Orlando shut down one year for a month and the next year for three weeks. You wouldn't have thousands of vacationers saying "well at least it was only three weeks this year." The lack of business responsibility is what really gets me with this whole best of crap. If I got on vacation, I can't just resend a bunch of emails or submit some work from last week while I'm away or when I get back. I make sure that enough work has been finished to fill my absence. Paul and Ron should be protecting their show by providing for their audience. I don't listen to the show to hear reruns. If I did I would only listen from 11-12. They use the best ofs as a crutch and its a sad, sad business model. I sure hope they read this thread because I don't think they understand how pathetically irresponsible playing best ofs is.

QFT (quoted for truth)

sometimes i like hearing the old bits with tommy and jenners, but its one thing to do best-ofs if someone(paul) is sick or something, its something entirely different to play an entire week of stuff we've already heard, just cuz you're scared of "the jenners effect".

the only person on the show now that hasnt had their own show is OMG, and i dont think he has aspirations to do his own show. let him (or toast or steve) introduce bits at the VERY least.

i have it on everyday, regardless of whats on, just because im sitting at my desk all day. but i would enjoy hearing at least SOME live action on PnYR's days off.

How sad is this. After finding out that the morning show on Toronto's rock station is also in reruns (and a crappy connection), and being unable to connect to Toronto's class rock station for their morning show I gave up and started listening to...... Bob and Tom. I actually decided that a good alternative to Paul and Young Ron best ofs was listening to the guys they kicked off the Gater on the radio station they've been booted to. Man... I need to just start listening to mp3's in the morning. Or I should record Geroge Noory and listen to people talk about aliens.

"the jenners effect"

That's a great line...

Remember how nice it was on Saturdays, to wake up and hear Jenners throwing out recorded bits and mixing it with music? I listened to it all the time. Now it's just like the "Best of" shows during the week. Ugh.

The more I think about that line, "the Jenners effect", I had to start working on a definition. How's this?

The Jenners Effect - To suppress a subordinate so that his/her obvious talent, personality, and likeability is less likely to be noticed or rise to the level that the subordinate is no longer dependent on the superior but instead is a marketable entity on his/her own.

Your perfectly right - but then why not do what Jamie suggested and put Jen Wylde or Seabass who dont have such a crucial role in the show, or maybe Jay Zeager from the Gater, and have them host the best ofs.? The answer is that clear channel is too cheap to pay someone to do extra work when they really dont have to. But the argument to that is that they shouldn't let down there fans by degrading the content of their radio station when Paul and Ron are not there, just to keep their value higher. I suggest listening to http://www.q1043.com/cc-common/streaming_new/ when they are on vacation, thats what I do. But if they were to get a LIVE host (and a side note, bruce mentioned jenners old saturday show, they were rarley live [the first few were, but after that they were always voice tracked]) i would tune in to Big or the Gater instead.
