let me just say...

I'd like to go on record right away saying that as amused as I was by the OMG Gauntlet bit, it was only because Mike can make things amusing, not because of the reason that Paul was amused, which is the misery of Mike. I think that Mike has huge cojones for doing what he did, and he is extremely dedicated to his job, moreso than Paul or Ron care to recognize. Yeah, he is an idiot. I'm the same age as Mike and not even close to as stupid as he is. However, that is no excuse to take advantage of him. This whole bull with the receipt is crap. Anyone who works in an office and expenses stuff knows they can ask for an extension on expense reports. I don't care what anyone says about Mike being able to just put up with it or quit. This is simply a case of Paul and Ron taking complete advantage of Mike. Its sick. The midget in the crib stunt was funny because someone volunteered. The smashing of the TVs was funny because people volunteered. Threatening Mike's job does not constitute volunteering. This is just Paul being a bully. I don't believe crap when he says he was a playboy in college or high school. From the way he treats Mike its like he's doing all the things the big kids did to him. He won't get in front of a paintball because he'd cry like a goddamn girl! I'm seriously thinking about giving up this show. Frankly I only listen because I enjoy the rest of the cast. Ron's monotone humour is amusing to me, and Branzig and Mike are great. Paul is starting to get to me though. He's a complete idiot and a damn little girl who can't put up with anything outside his little bubble of comfort. I think it might be time to switch to Lex and Terry. If you can't tell, I'm terribly disgusted.

Interesting comments. I don't entirely agree, though...

I can see where you're coming from, but have you ever listened to a show when Paul wasn't in? I have - back in the Toast days where Toast and Ron would come in and do a show when Paul was out sick for instance. It sounded entirely different, almost as if it wasn't the same show and that's my point: Without Paul there is no Paul and Young Ron Show.

Paul sets the tempo, the content and very much of the tone of the show, which is what many of us love. And although he gets very bossy at times and even obnoxious towards the other members, I can live with it because I know the show will not be same without him.

I'm not saying it would be the same without Ron - because Ron's a very special guy. He has the distinct quality to take whatever Paul dishes out and I think it's because he to some extend is playing a role. The fact that he has a radio name somewhat indicates this.

Bottomline is that the show will go on if Ron's away. When Paul's gone we get reruns...

I hope you stay around, iamjamieq ;-)

Soren you're very right that Paul sets the tone. He does, in fact, run the show. I'll admit he's very good at that. And although I enjoy listening to all the others more than Paul, it is the Paul and Young Ron show and without either there is no show. However, its getting harder to listen to Paul. I mean his ignorance is beyong ingratiating. For recent example, when they were discussing how to attract more hispanics to the show, whenever anyone called and said don't play latin music, he'd make some stupid remark in a southern accent and call them rednecks. I juste recently moved to South Carolina, the centre of the bible belt, and home to a very active clan. However, you'd be very surprised how few rednecks you'd find here. It sounds like a petty example and it sure might be. Its just that everytime someone makes a statement and Paul says "I don't think so" and dismisses it altogether just drives me crazy. I guess its because he is a talented radio show host and its a shame to see such talent get ruined by such ignorance. If he would learn to just shut the #$&^ up every here and there and accept that he might be wrong about something or that he is not the center of the universe then the quality of the show will go up. I'm sure that to an extent Ron is playing a role, however I do genuinely believe that most of what we hear is for real. And although its funny to hear Paul rip on Ron for things like wearing button down shirs to the pool, and brushing his wife's hair, eventually he has to realize that his way of life is not the only way or else he just sounds like a goddamn idiot. Frankly I am just finding it harder and harder to listen him not necessarily because he pisses me off, but because I feel like I'm losing brain cells from his lack of logic.

Oh and this whole threatening Ron thing is getting old. Sure he's always made comments about knocking out Ron and all but it seems now that every dayd he's threatening once or twice to smack Ron around or punch him or kick his ass or whatever and its just pathetic at this point. I'm not saying I hate Paul, I'm just saying that I'm getting increasingly more sick of his crap and I may have to switch shows.

Yeah, the OMG Paintball Gauntlet really went well because of Mike's good nature. I *KNOW* that had to hurt (I've listened a few times - you can really tell he's in distress). I think OMG would do anything to keep his job though, because as personable as he is, I don't know if he had other opportunities as good as this one. So he'll take the whipping and come back for more.

Pathetic? Just a little. But it was still amusing. I remember the intern olympics, the snake bite thing with Beans, and other humiliating and potentially painful bits. This one did seem a little more...well, painful for sure.

I agree with you to a point, Jamie. Sometimes Paulie is a little over the top. The show is like a recipe - too much of one ingredient and the whole thing is thrown off, though. I remember shows when Paul was out and it was just Toast and Ron. Or Paul and Jenners.

Somedays my favorite Italian restaurant makes my sausage and peppers spot on. Sometimes not. I totally lost my train of thought here...

(Can you tell that it's dinner time?)

iamjamieq, I 100 percent agree with this statement: "Its just that everytime someone makes a statement and Paul says "I don't think so" and dismisses it altogether just drives me crazy".

I too am pulling my hair our by the roots sometimes, when listeners are calling in and making sense just to have Paul make ignorant statements, patronize them and then hanging up before they have a chance to rebut.

And yes, Paul could definately benefit from learning that he does not know everything about everything and that him making a wrong statement, that no one will correct him on, will potentially make 300.000 listeners believe an incorrect statement.

- With great power comes great responsibilty ;-)
