did anyone else think the whole OMG bit was a little contrived?

maybe its because we know that they are bringing toast back, but the whole thing sounded almost scripted at times. maybe they are setting up his departure? i dont know. it just didnt feel right.
maybe its just me.

There's no question that sometimes you have to call BS on some of the bits, but I didn't feel that way about this one. I also don't feel like they're getting ready to toss OMG - there's plenty of room there for another person. They've carried 5 full timers on the show before.
I could be wrong, though.

Its really hard to say. First there was talk about Toast coming back, then a passing remark about OMG getting a job at 93Rock, then Toast really coming back. Paul said he's not gonna fire Mike for the whole pee thing. Maybe that's because he already quit? I would not be surprised at all if Mike took a job at 93.1 and they replaced him with Toast. Hopefully for Mike he'll replace Jay and Dave over there, the worst morning show duo in history! And that includes Lex and Terry.

I talked to 93 Rock. They have no plans on doing any kind of morning show what-so-ever.
Their idea of competing with Paul and Ron is ... just playing music.
Which ... is retarded.
If you want to hear music ... play a CD or your iPod.
Toast is with Paul and Ron because he lost his job at WQAM.
Paul and Ron got Toast for under 40k a year with a promise to bump up his pay after Jan 1st to 50k.
The whole reason for getting Toast would be to have someone extra to assume OMG's duties when he goes out on the street, or to watch the board during the best of's so OMG doesn't have to be there everyday and most importantly, so Branzig doesn't have to watch the board if OMG isn't there.
But ... OMG could be looking at other stations ... being that he is only at 30k per year. Pretty absurd considering that Ron "Brewer" Bates is making over 700k per year.
Ooops ... did I just give out Ron's real last name?

That's very interesting, especially the numbers. I'd have guessed Ron's pay a little lower...around half that...
Thanks to Ron's cell phone voice mail slip up, we all knew his name, though.
Why, he's even mentioned in Wikipedia's article about WRVQ (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WRVQ):
Popular personalities from the 70s included Randy Reeves, Bob Somers, Steve Hendrix, Dr.Rock( aka Ralph Wimmer ) , Jeff Jackson, Steve Kelly (coming from sister station WRBQ in Tampa),"Cosmic" John Barry, Ron Bates, Kevin Connors, Tim Watts, Tom Ogburn "BTO", Rick Shaw, and Bruce Kelly.
Ron...spinning the hits...hahahahaha. I'd love to hear some of that.

And finally the mystery is solved, I never knew his real last name.

Now that the bubble has burst, I will release the audio within the next couple of days. I grabbed the audio after blautens pointed the segment out to me, where it was accidently reveiled on the air - streaming air that is - Paul hit the dump button, I think, so non-stream listeners didn't get the scoop.
I wasn't sure if I should release the audio because Ron's real name has been a pretty well protected secret and I wouldn't want to get on P&YR's bad side.
So stay tuned, gang ;-)

Now it makes a little more sense when Paul was telling people to just put the Atlantis trip on the credit card and pay later. I knew they made a lot of money. Hell, you don't have a Lighthouse Point house on the Intracoastal and a big boat without making a lot, but I never thought they made THAT much. What a jackass. He's gonna tell me, who doesn't even $40K a year, to just put it on the credit card? Not so easy mother f$%#&er!! I don't hate people for having money. I only hate people with money who think that every else has it too. What a dick.
