Hey everyone,
Today's show starts off with Paul confiscating Toast's cigarettes for the "great american smokeout". They got some callers to quit smoking with Toast and would get prizes if they last the duration of the show without ciggs. (or at least claim thay havn't smoked, we'll never really know) But at least they covered the important part, which is whether or not pot counts in the smokeout...thankfully, it was established no, it doesn't count...Paul even went as far to say "I am a firm believer of the legalization of weed, i've seen how it helps cancer paitents"...etc etc...
Apparently the meeting they had to leave early for yesterday was corporate going over what does well in ratings and what doesn't...apparently the part Paul was focusing in on was that the least favorite parts of the show are the interviews. Now, people do however enjoy when they do the interviews that they screw with...like the old lady who got her house ran into by billy joel...every line they spoke to her was a title of a joel song. But i guess we just don't like the straight forward interviews.
Dirty Mike called in with the hollywood dirt. Not sure why it would be worth the mention, but he asked if Michelle Obamas' favorite drama show is CSI, Law & Order or cold case. In case you care it is Law & Order. He gave a good review of the "24" movie Redemption which I believe is airing this Sunday on Fox and will be tied into the new season which will begin the night of the superbowl after the game. The last thing from Dirty Mike is about a double date of Bo Derek with John corbett and Dan Abrams with Elle Macpherson...thats it...just that they went out...not very exciting i know.
Show got better in the 8am hour when in studio guest Arnez Jay came in. He's a comedian performing down here at...uh...forgot to write it down...but i'm almost positive it's at the Coconut Grove Improv...but that could be wrong. Very funny guy. Never heard of him before, but really enjoyed watchin him on the show today. Toast and Arnez, or nezzy as he told Paul he can call him, were going at it with the Mccain/Obama thing. Toast exclaimed that he went for "experience". Arnez got into the following conversation...
Arnez : "Have you ever killed anyone?"
Toast : "No"
Arnez : "If someone broke into your house and you had a gun....
Toast : "Hell yeah"
Arenz : "Thats called on the job training"
Funny stuff. I don't know if you Listen to the show or watch it, but if you watch it, one thing to watch for is anytime there is any Mccain or Obama conversation Toast always stands up and starts pacing in his little area that his headphones will allow him to pace in. Its funny watching him squirm when the conversation comes up. You know he wants to go off the handle and choke someone, but he just keeps his cool and paces. This is usually followed by him leaving the room right after the conversation. We can only assume that an intern is in the next room bleeding.
Conversation worked it's way around to Arnez's list of best actors. Now, at first glance, his list may look odd...his picks are great actors, but not ones you would typically pick as "best actors". However he explains what he bases his opinion on, and i have to agree with him. Arnez is not basing his picks on the level of acting of any individual but on the range at which they can act. In other words, as Paul was making clear, that although pacino and the like are excellent actors they kinda always play the same type of person. With Dinero even when he tries something different like comedy he still plays the same type of charachter...in both Analyze This and Meet the Parents although he was funny, it was still that "don't make me break your legs" type charachter. Whereas Johnny Depp (Arnez's #1 pick) plays a wide range of charachters. From a caring older brother in Whats Eating Gilbert Grape to the creepy type in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory to the flamboyant pirate in Pirates of the Carribean. I don't know if you saw that Stephen King movie "Secret Window" but he was excellent there too. Arnez's list is as follows...#1 Johnny Depp, #2 Don Cheadle, #3 Brad Pitt, #4 Denzel Washington, #5 Robert Downy Jr. Based on his explanation of range i'd agree with most of his list...maybe trade out Downy for Leo Dicaprio...WAIT WAIT WAIT...DON'T YELL AT ME...i'm not talkin about the teeny bop crap in the middle...i mean young Leo, like Gilbert Grape, he was awesome...and recent Leo, like Blood Diamond....he really is a great actor when he gets put into a decent film.
YAY, WE GOT A MENTION...not sure if it's good though...i will try to type as fast as they speak to get the whole thing....
paul "the guy that runs haveahectic.org...whats that website...haveahectic.com?"
steve "yeah"
paul "or .org?"
mike ".net"
toast "thats pretty much dead"
ron ".net?"
paul "it is?"
mike ".cc"
toast "yeah, they stopped blogging"
soren's letter "i don't mind the interviews...alot of them are very entertaining...especially when they are good...like frank caliendo...matt damon...etc..."
so thats the mention...yes, i have emailed toast to let him know that we are back blogging...lol...
