Greg 'Toast' Lamega

Toast

bio by Bruce & Soren

Toast (real name: Greg LaMega - click listen to the clip where Toast's real name hits the air) started as an intern during the 90’s on WZTA (94.9), when the naming of the interns sort of followed the “Omelette” pattern (he started just after Omelette). Everyone sort of had a breakfast food sort of name back then (Omelette, Toast, Beans, etc.). When Omelette quit, Toast picked up the slack, both personally and professionally. Toast had an affinity for sports, and eventually left for a job in sports talk radio, allegedly in the south Florida market (I’m sure he doesn’t go by the name of Toast, though).

Toast was every bit the rebel and substance abuser that Omelette was, and his antics brought down the average age of the show. He literally drove to a massage parlor in West Palm Beach while on the air, and got a “full release” massage while on air. That wouldn’t make the air today (thank you very little George Bush and the FCC), but it was legendary radio at the time.

Paul speaks of Toast as a pariah, but I think he actually still kind of likes him. Back in August 2006 Toast joined Paul and Young Ron in studio for a whole broadcast. Read about it here »
